YOUNG PRO SCOUT: Cambridge United’s Leon Davies

Leon Davies penned the terms of his professional contract at Cambridge United on 22nd November 2016, his 17th birthday.

The young defender has been The U’s since the age of 8, initially coming through the clubs regional development centre’s before joining the Academy’s under 9’s.

He would go on to be involved in the first team squad for a game against Accrington Stanley in 2015 just after his 16th birthday which first flagged the right back’s potential.

Davies went on to make his first professional appearance in August 2016 in the Checkatrade Trophy game versus Shrewsbury Town but would have to wait until the 2nd January 2017 to make his League bow coming on for Piero Mingoia in the 77th minute in the 4-0 home win over Notts County.

The teenager has already drawn admiring glances from the likes of Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City over the past couple of years and will surely be a name you will hear a lot more of in the coming seasons.
