The 20-year-old midfielder has made 13 appearances for the West Londoners since his debut in December 2014. This season Loftus-Cheek has made nine appearances and he notched his first senior goal in January’s FA Cup win over Scunthorpe United.
Loftus-Cheek told Chelsea’s club website:” I’m delighted to sign a new contract at Chelsea and my focus is on working hard in training every day in order to push on and establish myself in the team. It really means a lot because this shows the club believe in me so I’m really happy.
“The club have done so much for me since I started here as an Under-8 and now I want to repay the faith they’ve shown in me with my performances on the pitch.”
Loftus-Cheek is the leading academy graduate out of Stamford Bridge in recent years as many of his peers have since gone out on loan. He was part of the 2012 and 2014 FA Youth Cup winning squads, as well as the Under-21 Premier League in 2014 and the UEFA Youth League in 2015.
On the international front Loftus-Cheek has been an ever present figure in Gareth Southgate’s U21 squad with four appearances and a goal this season.
U21 defender Dion Conroy also extended his stay Chelsea until June 2018.
